Bangkok : Shopping Paradise

When : January 2010

Bangkok is truly a shopping haven, bar to none. My No 1 favorite being the Platinum Fashion Mall located at Pratunam. I believe no woman can remain sane when shopping in this mall. Dedicated for wholesale, you actually get a mark down in price when you purchase 3 items and above (in general).

Platinum Fashion Mall

Even at the night market outside Central World, we spot really nice things sold here.

Cute dolls and accessories

Unlimited sunglasses design

While heading to dinner, spotted another shopping area, near to Hard Rock Cafe.

He sew the various cloth cutting, onto the t-shirts himself

Though we were tired with almost no more energy to walk, when we spotted this other night market near to MBK train station, we again spent a good hour to look around.

God! Shopping available at every corner in Bangkok.

Shopping even under the train station

Really lots to buy

Thoughts :
Things here are as cheap as it can be. Not enough money, no worry. Just worry of your leg becoming sore after days of shopping here.

Siem Reap : School @ Tonle Sap

When : Jan 2010

Tonle Sap, a floating village at Siem Reap is unusual for 2 reasons - its flow changes direction twice a year, and the portion that forms the lake expands and shrinks dramatically with the seasons. During Nov-May (Cambodia's dry season), the Tonlé Sap drains into the Mekong River at Phnom Penh. However, when the year's heavy rains begin in June, the Tonlé Sap backs up to form an enormous lake.

During my 1/2 day tour here, I had the opportunity to drop by its school at Tonle Sap. At our free will, we have the option to stop by the bookshop, to purchase some items for the students - costed USD10 for few exercise books and pens (high cost due to high transportation cost into the village).

Class in progress

Students rushing home once class ended

Students riding sampan home

Students riding sampan home

A student with stylo haircut

A girl changing her pants, while another boy bargaining for something from a friend

Looks dangerous for some, but the boy looked rather relax on the sampan

Playground for some

Love this scene of this girls having a good time

Thoughts :
This students are lucky to be able to attend school, though classroom seemed like jam packed sardine. Traveling home on sampan after classes and seeing how much this children enjoy playing under the hot sun in the middle of no-where, made me feel that we, back in Malaysia, are really far more fortunate, and pampered.

Siem Reap : Sunset at Angkor Wat

When : Dec 2009

We were lucky to be able to witness the sunset at Angkor Wat - the sun set around 5.40pm local time and it was a good 3-5mins.

Thoughts :
Its such a beautiful moment, seeing the sun set. We may be too busy with our life, to realize the significance of this beautiful star, located at the center of the Solar System. We should from time to time take a moment to ponder upon ourselves, and to find the true meaning of life.

Siem Reap : Snapshot

When : Dec 2009 - Jan 2010

Thoughts :
Siem Reap is such a beautiful city - a place I feel one must visit, at least once in their lifetime.

KL, Malaysia : Zoo Negara

When : January 2010

Here's sharing some of my favorite photos taken during that afternoon.

Multi Animal Show. 11am & 3pm daily (3.30pm on Friday)

The spider in action. Happen to spot this at the outside area (not part of the zoo's attraction)

Thoughts :
Everyone would have their own sets of expectation of a place of attraction. Felt that most people under-rated the KL zoo, and after being there, its actually quite a nice place to visit, especially to bring kids, to get to know the animals.

Siem Reap : Learning English

When : Dec 2009 - Jan 2010

Some Cambodians studying English from these classrooms. They are real enthusiastic about learning the language. Just basic table and chairs in the classroom, and of course the blackboard, and chalk to write. Classrooms are without fan.

Thoughts :
Despite the non condusive environment, this students are so enthusiastic in learning English. This really proves that "When there is a will, there is a way". *^*
